The whole meaning of journaling is to transform thoughts onto paper or some kind of media that can be understood. Writing has been around for as long as we know. You see it everywhere. You don’t have to be an expert on writing, just write how you would normally talk.
My Reasoning Behind Journaling
It is good for the brain when you write down thoughts. It will help you mentally and help you be more focused. I am no doctor but I have been doing it for most of my life and if I did not have the ability to communicate through words on paper I probably would not be the person I am today.
It helps with remembering. We are not capable of remembering every single thing that we do in our lives. This is where journaling comes in. Ever get stuck on where something was placed a few weeks ago and just can’t remember where it was placed. If it is not in plain sight and you are not constantly thinking of where it is more than likely you are not going to know where it is. Try it and tell me what you think.
Our brains are so incredible, we are able to hold onto a lot at once but when there is too much we get overwhelmed and our brains go into a freeze state. Ever wonder why you can’t remember things you are supposed to when taking a test and your brain goes completely blank? That is because your brain is overloaded and not allowing you to focus on the answer.
Notes you can understand
Writing down notes anywhere will help you remember. I use various places to write a note down. I usually keep a notebook with me or around me to keep track of things. As we get older, it is more challenging to remember.
Being able to remember and keep the memory locked in your brain is a whole other thing.
I prefer paper and pen over digital
I always like to have a hard copy of whatever I write. I like working with digital but there is nothing wrong with having it in your hand. You can’t lose any of it because of errors. It will always be there as long as you keep it safe and out of harm’s way.
